And this problem is really traumatic. Depression will lead to many other problems that have heart- threatening effects. Anxiety gives rise to depression. This must be understood. It is not easy to identify people who suffer from anxiety and depression because they never ask for help. But the symptoms are very obvious. You have to be patient enough to understand the symptoms. Some of the symptoms are lack of sleep, lack of appetite, lack of positive feelings, frequent mood swings, practice negative thinking etc. Sometimes, though very rare, it becomes difficult to know because the person affected is able to hide the symptoms well. Depressed people make suicide attempts. This is very common. We read this in newspapers every day. Many people take away the precious lives by committing suicide. You must know that anxiety and depression go hand in hand. Bad eating habits, too much dependency on junk food and fried stuff can result in acute shortage of minerals (zinc, potassium, magnesium, etc) and vitamins, which in turn affect the neuro-transmitter absorption in the body. This may be a reason of depression. Even though depression is termed as an emotional disease, there are some foods that produce feel good hormones. If you deprive our body of some really important nutrients, you will surely fall in the clutches of anxiety or depression. Many times the assimilation of vitamins and minerals is also influenced by the hormone flow in the blood. This is the reason why women are by default more prone to anxiety and depression symptoms as compared to men. Due to changes in hormones this problem may be faced. During menopause, there is a lot of hormonal imbalance in the body. The body is not able to cope up with this stress. And the result is depression. Menopause is the most common reason for depression among females. They come in the net of anxiety and depression. Thus it is said that during this period, females require a lot of support from children and husband. They become emotionally weak and there is frequent crying and weeping. In women, anxiety and depression symptoms are often times influenced by the monthly periods. There may be anxiety and depression as a result of PMS ie premenstrual syndrome. And also during the tough days of menstruation, there may be rise in anxiety levels. This is mainly because of hormonal imbalance. However, not all the anxiety and depression problems are due to hormones. Sometimes, this happens because some family member's past medical history, or because the gene of the baby was faulty. Genetics plays a very important role here. If there are any problems, it's a possibility they can be rectified. Other reasons as to why anxiety and depression occurs are the use of drugs, anti-depressants (in excess), over-the-counter medications which are not recommended, and the overall environment where the person lives. All these also play a vital role in a person's life. A person is affected by the people, around and the environment. If the people and the environment are cheerful, the chances of depression are rare. But if a person has to face constant criticism, suspicion, anger, sarcasm etc the person's mental health is seriously affected and the person becomes weak, emotionally. There is plenty of medication and therapy for the treatment and cure of anxiety and depression. You may practice yoga and meditate for some time every day. You must try to connect with your inner self. You will definitely get rid of it. In very rare cases, the depression becomes chronic and it becomes difficult to cure. Have you heard of laughter clubs? Laughter clubs are actually excellent tension-busters. You will need at least five people initially. Laughing has been proven to be a wonderful way to fight stress. You will come out of all your pains. It is not that the pains will go away. Well, they are definitely there, but you will get the power to fight back. Try it out yourself. Anxiety is the main reason for depression. It is also affected by the people and surroundings.
