Depression and Suicide are Closely Related

Depression has created a lot of problems for the people in this world. The icy jaws of depression have taken many innocents in its clutches. Depression is the talk of the day. It ruins personal and professional life. It makes life like a hell. It has heart-threatening effects. It leads to problems like diabetes, cholesterol, cardiac problems etc. These are just the starting consequences. It also tempts a person to commit suicide.

Many people who suffer from depression think of suicide. This is because, with depression, their mind stops thinking logically. Depression is really traumatic. This malady tends to show the world and life in the worst possible light; it is not surprising that some people who suffer from this emotional problem end up committing suicide. The person never asks for help. This is because the person thinks that whatever the feelings are, they are right. They themselves do not know that they are under depression. The person needs help. You can prevent this, and also help the person get rid of this malady, if you learn to read the signs.

Depression is really a worst condition. The person faces many problems like insomnia, hopelessness, lack of self- esteem, lack of self worth etc. Depression can attack anyone, at any age. This is why there are a number of research studies and interviews going on about the seriousness of the depression and suicide emerging trends in colleges and universities. There are suicidal attempts that rise at an alarming rate.

The depressed person will never come for help. You must develop some amount of patience to understand if the person is depressed or not. It is difficult but if you concentrate, you will definitely find this out. But observe the person if you find some kind of awkward behavior.

  • The person in question all of a sudden develops an unusual interest in the subject of death and/or suicide. The person may talk negative things constantly. Or he totally loses interest in life and is de-motivated.
  • You observe that this person is losing interest in the things that he would do on normal basis. The person's productivity at work drops all of a sudden. The person lacks interest in everything.
  • People who suffer from depression and suicidal thoughts usually have extreme mood swings. At one time they will literally be bubbling with joy, while the next moment they will be in an entirely different time zone. This is really a dangerous sign.
  • The person talks about being dead in a positive way. They tend to imagine themselves dead, and behave as if they want and could wish for it; in that case people can go home and die in peace.

A depressed person with anxiety and depression symptoms must be attended and not ignored. Even a depressed person will not know that he is going through this trauma. There are some signs, which indicate depression. You have to be patient enough to understand this. It is tough but you must be able to understand this. The depressed person will not eat properly, will suddenly cut off from the world, will answer your questions in mono-syllables, will not be able to sleep, will go away from positive thoughts, will talk only negatively about each and everything, will have mood swings etc. If you say them they need help, they will ignore you.

But help them in a way that even they do not come to know about that. It is an emotional disease that will lead to harmful effects. The effects are far reaching and sometimes may even lead to suicidal attempts. The depressed person really deserves a lot of sympathy and help. You must develop a humanitarian attitude to help the person.

This is because it may also tempt the depressed person to commit suicide. There is a deep relationship between depression and suicide. The person feels that he is simply worth nothing and thus the world is not a proper place for him. These thoughts make him negative towards life and make him end it.
