Depression Self Help is Necessary

You have one life and have one birth, for the first and last time you are on this earth. So live life with joy and mirth. You cannot afford to waste this beautiful gift of life. Life is very precious. Negative thoughts of worthlessness, helplessness, and passivity to life situations, and the feelings of ending the pain by ceasing to live are all part of major depression. You must never get depressed. Be optimistic about life. Life will give you. Be with positive people.

You must be able to do self- help. This is because only you are responsible for your own depression. You are emotionally weak to get carried away by the depressive thoughts. Thus only you can help yourself. Give yourself a chance. Life is a binge. If you want a cake and cut it too then bake two. You solely are responsible for your life. So be positive. If you are depressed with what you don't have, think of the people who are less fortunate to live long life and died at a very young age. So help yourself.

The prerequisite for getting better is your willingness to give life a chance. Unless you are willing to help yourself, efforts by other supporters will be of little use. No matter how hard life is getting for you, be open to let yourself and others give help.

  • Loneliness also leads to depression. So be around good and loving fiends. Depression is aggravated much by being alone. Depression self help works well when, you go out with others or let others involve you in their company/life activities. If you do not feel like doing something or doing it differently, openly ask your caring companions. Tell them that you trust them but simply cannot follow their demands.
  • Depression makes simple pleasures and little success events meaningless while, in the practical sense, these are the very essence of a happy life. You don't care as regards to the happy moments. You must set realistic goals. Be happy in small things Do not expect too much from yourself or others. See life as it is and strive for making small improvements.
  • Depression is the worst time in anyone's life. You may get addicted to drugs or alcoholism. Avoid such company. Tell your problem to your family members. Make them aware of your needs. It is good to communicate rather than get depressed.
  • If you feel that you need some help you can ask your friends and family. Also getting professional help from a trained psychotherapist/psychiatrist is also part of depression self help. While it is important to strive your own way out of depressive mood, there is always need for professional help from an expert in psychological problems. Please remember that getting help for your mind is in no way an abnormal or awkward thing and it is part of life to seek health.

You must always help a person who is depressed. Most of the health problems that people face today are stress related. You live a life of hustle and bustle, hurry and worry. This results into consequences like diseases such as blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and the latest on the list of "popularity" is depression. Well, depression is not a disease, but it definitely makes you ill mentally. This problem is rightly said to be a silent killer, because it moves swiftly and almost without any immediate symptoms. The person undergoes a lot of mental torture and due to this the friends and the family of the person also have to suffer. The effects are heart threatening. It may even cause death. Yes, all of a sudden the person affected commits suicide and a valuable life is lost. There may be many things going on in the person's mind and you will not even have a clue about any such thing. You may lose your loved one who may be in the clutches of depression. So beware of it and keep positive thoughts at your hand.

Even a depressed person will not know that he is going through this trauma. There are some signs, which indicate depression. You have to be patient enough to understand this. It is tough but you must be able to understand this. The depressed person will not eat properly, will suddenly cut off from the world, will answer your questions in mono-syllables, will not be able to sleep, will go away from positive thoughts, will talk only negatively about each and everything, will have mood swings etc. If you say them they need help, they will ignore you.

But help them in a way that even they do not come to know about that. It is an emotional disease that will lead to harmful effects. The effects are far reaching and sometimes may even lead to suicidal attempts.
